Camille Schrier

Camille Schrier grew up in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, eventually moving to Virginia to complete dual Bachelor of Science degrees in Biochemistry and Systems Biology with honors from Virginia Tech. She is currently pursuing a Doctor of Pharmacy at Virginia Commonwealth University. A science lover for life, in June of 2019 Camille was selected as Miss Virginia after breaking from tradition to perform a highly engaging, entertaining and educational science demonstration, the “catalytic decomposition of hydrogen peroxide” for the onstage talent competition. On December 19, 2019 competing live on NBC from the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut, Camille was named Miss America 2020. As the only woman to win the job with the help of science, her talent performance put a laser focus on women in STEM and sparked an enormous positive reaction. She is the only Miss America to ever face the challenge of serving her role through a pandemic and be fully grounded for an extended period. Flexible, adaptable, creative and resilient, Camille travelled the country both physically and virtually, speaking about Mind Your Meds: Drug Safety and Abuse Prevention from Pediatrics to Geriatrics, with a strong focus on combating the opioid epidemic. Schrier also utilizes her platform to promote leadership, innovation, and authenticity as well as advocate for Ehlers Danlos Syndrome, a genetic disorder that she was diagnosed with at age 11.
